Born in Alabama, William Gilbert 'Gill' Melton's
origins are unknown. He married M. Parker at 17
and joined the Confederate army in Louisana at
18. Surrendering a year later, he came home and
divorced his wife for adultery. In 1864, he wed
Rebecca, and they had 8 kids before she died. Gill
wed once more, to L. Van, and died in MS, at 64.
