Matthew James Archibald Holman was born in
Nova Scotia; his ancestors were among the first
settlers of Upper Musquodoboit. Matthew wed
Margaret and they had 2 children before she died
at age 28. He remarried in 1886, to a woman 30
years his junior, and became a father again at age
51. He died in Musquodoboit in 1921; he was 82.
