Martha Jane Seale was born the granddaughter
of planters in Mecklenburg, NC. In 1812, her
parents sold all their possessions except for a few
slaves, and established a plantation in Mississippi.
Martha wed Daniel at 17, and they raised a family
of 10 before he died in 1841. She married again,
and passed away at 56, in Columbia, MS.
