Cardsmith Account Updates & News

We're excited to finally reveal some major improvements to the My Account area of MTG Cardsmith. All pages have been updated to the new site styles, with additional support for mobile users. The Account Home page has an updated activity feed, your latest card, your most loved card, and additional account information.


Much of the previous functionality for managing and deleting cards and sets is still the same, but with an updated and improved UX. We want to make it easier for members to manage their cards, so in addition to removal tools in My Account > Cards, a Remove Card icon has been added to the View Card page for any card you own. Members can also add cards they own directly to a set from the View Card page as well. We hope these additional tools give you more flexibility in curating your custom cards and sets.

As a new feature for our Premium members, account statistics have been collected and added to your Account Home page. Click the View Stats link to display your collection stats by Color, Rarity and Type. We hope to add additional valuable stats to this area over time.

What's next?

Well we've been working on this area for a while, but its time to return to our bread and butter. We want to update the card image upload process, and spend some time on a new M15 Planeswalker editor that will be as robust as its M15 Card counterpart. The old forms need to be brought up to speed with our new styles as well. How can you help make these things happen? Support us on Patreon.com or with a Premium membership! Other News

On Dec. 1, we will be purging cards for accounts that haven't logged in since June 1, 2016. Premium members are excluded from this list. We do this every so often as the server begins to fill up with card images. It's necessary to clear away some of the old, to make room for new cards and new ideas. As long as you have logged in since June, your cards will be safe.

How to Edit Custom Magic Cards

Today, I'm going to teach you how to use the new Edit Card functionality that is now available with Premium Membership.This latest feature was added to give members an easier way to edit and modify cards based on other feedback from the community or "too-late" typing errors that can sometimes get missed. You'll need the original artwork image for the card, or if you want, replacement artwork to use instead.

While viewing the card you wish to edit, Premium members will see a pencil icon in the action buttons row. Click this icon to upload and crop your artwork.

After finalizing your crop, you will be taken back to the card editor - this time with all of the original card details loaded and waiting to be changed. From there on, edit and update your card as you see fit until you are ready to save.

We should note, there are three small things that cannot be updated through this method: the author of the card, the post date of the card, and the url of the card. These elements are key items for card data, and therefore must remain the same.

Q. Why do I have to reload my image?
A. We don't have the capacity to store both original images and card images for every card. Having you upload the image allows us to keep costs lower and continue services for the overall community. Also, it makes it much easier to update or re-crop an image if desired.

Q. Will Edit Card ever be a free feature?
A. Because we have guidelines for card content and a limited team of moderators, we don't want to risk any user coming back and adding inappropriate content to cards that have already been through moderation. We also feel like this is worthy of a Premium Feature and rewards members who are able to, and willing to support the site financially.

Q. How do I become a Premium Member?
A. You can sign up for premium features either through our ongoing Patreon campaign, or directly on the site through the store.
